Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant’s Bulgarian coach, Velizar Popov has sad that winning treble in a season is amazing and it's fantastic. New Radiant who has won the Milo Charity Shield and Dhiraagu Dhivehi League this season won the treble after winning the B52 FA Cup last night beating Maziya by 1-0.
Speaking just after the final of B52 FA Cup last night Popov said that FA Cup is a prestigious trophy and winning treble is amazing.
“The most important thing is the trophy, FA Cup is a very prestigious trophy so to make treble in this season is amazing, first we won the Charity Shield and then Dhiraagu Dhivehi League and now B52 FA Cup. This is fantastic and all credit goes to my players.”
Popov also said that they performed very well in the first and but in the second half they were tired but showed superb personality and character.
“Thank you to my players and they were fantastic. They were tired in the second half but they showed superb personality and character and they win this game. In the first half we played very well and created good chances tactically.”
Popov also highlighted about the things happened in the match and he said that the referee has to take the blame of that.
“I saw a final tense but its all about the referee, Maziya players deserved three to four red cards even a player who enters in the second half deserved three direct red cards but he was shown only one yellow card. And the things happened during the match was because of the referee.”
New Radiant can equal their record of winning all domestic tournaments in 1997 by winning the President's Cup this year. They will face Maziya in the semi final on 8th October.
