Male’, MALDIVES – Maldives national team coach Drago Mamic has said that the win against Kyrgyzstan is a gift for the Maldivian supporters. Speaking at the press conference Drago said the supporters deserved this and this is a gift.

“We gave a good gift for Maldivian fans because they deserved this and we are very happy that we made the fans happy.”

Drago said that it was a must win game for them and the players did a fantastic job during the match.

“As I told you before it’s a do or die game for us and I must congratulate my players for their enormous power and keep the resistance till 70 minutes and you can see these kind of things even in more professional leagues.”

He also added that Ashfaq is doing a good job even though he is injured.

“Ashfaq has playing with injury and he needs to rest but he has power and some players can’t play when they were injured and I congratulate him.”

“All the players performed very well and their only will is to win the game and our main aim now is to qualify for the semifinal of the tournament.”

When asked about the possibility of beating Palestine and advance to the semifinal of the tournament he reiterated that if they perform like tonight they can beat any team.

“I am sure if we perform like this we can beat any team in this tournament. But we have to understand that there is no weak team in this tournament.”

Maldives will play their last game in the group on Friday

I think the team played very well tonight. Any views? What I'm seeing is that EVERY single player in the squadis becoming more and more important intop the tournament like the coach said, especially with injuries creeping in. This leads te me think that we need to encourage and appreciate ebey SINGLE player and his effort, not just Dhagey's, though as everyone knows, he's great. I think the midfield players have shown what they can do and their real capacity. The first goal itself shows what a great passing game we can play and keep the ball. There were some 12 passes before Dhagey was brought down, and that's quality build-up!

That move made my feel like a giddy little boy! It was a joy to watch whenever the midfield passed the ball around. I hope to see such moves on a more sustained basis in future matches.

Its sad that we didnt try to score more goals when the opponents are down to 10 men, this could cost us dearly in progressing further in the competition.

Look at the photo of Adubarey when we won the penalty!!!! Damn!!! "determination inside" is the best way to describe the teams performance!!!!!! Good luck NT and keep fighting in the next game as well. We supporters will be behind you.::: But one more thing today the supporters failed little bit. We were not able to make even a single "wave", thats a bit disapointing for me!!!! Whenever the sidibari starts a wave it disappears at the gondibari!!!!! Thats not good , we have to impore on our side!!!!!

There appears to be a feeling that in the countrty that Palestine may not take the match that seriously and that we can win the match without too much effort. Very wrong!! Without iour best effort ever, we can easily lose this match. Our team has to put all the effort as much or even more than we did in the match against Myammar for two reasons: 1. Palestine doesn't want to be go home yet on goal differences if they lose the match aginst us. 2. Palestine are probably tactically and physically the best team in the Group. Having said that, I strongly believe with a no-nonsense appraoch in the defense and a good combination between the midfield and the forward line, LIKE WE DID LAST NIGHT, we can win convincingly. In defensem, we need the old 'Victory SC' style defense. In defense, we need New Radiant's quick attacking moves. And we need Old Valencia's professionalism and Discipline. The support and the spitrit amongst the fans is high and that is guaranteed! :-)
