Male', MALDIVES - New Radiant Sports Club has wrapped up their transfer activities for the new season with the signing of former Ghana national team defender Jonathan Quartey.

Quartey, 25, has played for Ghana premier league sides as well as in Vietnam league. He played nine games for Ghana national team with the likes of Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan. He also played three games for Ghana under 21 national team, featuring in 2005 FIFA Under 21 World Championship in Peru.

While playing in South Africa league, Quartey also featured against Manchester United in a pre season game and played against the likes of Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Ryan Giggs.

New Radiant confirmed on their Facebook page that this is one of the biggest signing of club history.

New Radiant searched for a defender after they terminated the contract of Rilwan Waheed.

Quartey is expected to be in Male' on 29th January.

New Radiant, the current holders of all domestic titles, will start their new season on February 14 against Maziya in the season opening Charity Shield game.
