Male’, MALDIVES – Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan) has been appointed as the head coach of Mahibadhoo Sports Club today at a press conference held at FAM house.
Speaking to the press Mahibadhoo Sports Club’s co-founder member, Ahmed Thoriq (Tom) said that they were happy to have a coach like Mohan, who has won the best coach award in 2012.
“We are happy and we all believe that Mohan is one of the best local coaches in the country. Personally I have worked with Mohan as a player and I know how good he is.”
Meanwhile, Mohan thanked Tom and other co-founder Imran Mohamed and also the people of Mahibadhoo.
“I thank them all for giving me this opportunity. I know it will be a tough task and I will try my level best to achieve the clubs target, which is to survive from the relegation.”
“I have confidence that we can achieve that target and even beyond that. Mahibadhoo founders, Thoriq and Imran would know what we have to do to get good results and what we need.”
Mohan also said that his ambition is to introduce new players to the first division and as well as to the national team.
“I don’t want and even I will not request to the management to get experienced players to the team. I will try to give chances to the players from Mahibadhoo and also from nearby islands.”
“I know it will be tough and there will be difficulties when playing in the first division without experienced players.”
Thoriq also said that they will bring some foreign players based on the weak positions of the team.
“We will sort out the weak positions of the team and then we will bring some foreign players to the team. We don’t want to bring players from other clubs. One of our main target is also to give chances to Mahibadhoo players and we will work like that.”
Thariq also said that they will start the practices on 12th January.
