Male’, MALDIVES – Maldives national team coach Ricki Herbert has finalized his 20 players squad for the SAFF Suzuki Cup to be held in Trivandrum, India tomorrow.

General Secretary Bassam Adeel Jaleel announced the final 20 players at a press conference held at FAM House today.

"Coach has said that it was a tough decision for him to select 20 players from a squad of 29 players almost at a same level." Bassam said.

National team coach Ricki Herbert has said that he has selected young players because they are good enough to be part of the senior national team.

“I have picked the young players because they are good enough to be part of this and the only thing is that they don’t have good international experience and I am going to give them that chance. These boys are desperate they are hungry and they are training hard to be among this group.” Ricki said to FAM official website.

Coach finalized the final 20 players after a training camp held in Malaysia last week with a squad of 29 players.

Good, balanced blend of youth with experience. Fitness issue may still ultimately decide our fate in the tournament.
