Male’, MALDIVES – Club Eagles has sacked their chairman Mohamed Rasheed (Hiyalee) today after a board meeting.

Club Eagles appointed Hiyalee as the club’s chairman mid this year and played a vital role against the no confidence motion against former FAM president Ilham’s administration. Eagles submitted the no confidence motion under Hiyalee’s leadership and sent various letters to FIFA and AFC regarding the matter.

An official from the club said to media that a board member submitted the issue today during a board meeting and the majority decided to sack him.

“We don’t want to give any chance for FIFA to suspend Maldives and during those letters send to FIFA under his leadership it was very likely that they would suspend Maldives.”

However FIFA has now formed a normalisation committee headed by President of Maldives Olympic Committee to run FAM and conduct an election before September 2015.

Thanks to Hiyalee for working hard to improve the leadership in FAM!. It was so unfortunate that we had politicians and big mouths leading the FAM when we had the chance to play at a higher level with the biggest footballer in our history, AShfaaq, still couldn't make an impression because of the inept management we had at the time. So, a big, big thank you. Now we are in a situation to do real work with our football.

So the man who literary masterminded the fall of Ilham is finally made the fall guy in this sordid saga of clubs vs FAM. Is he on a personal crusade, on a agenda of his own even while he was sending letters at lightning speed to FIFA? The rumours doing the rounds are he was on a mission to grab power at FAM and become the boss. As they say you never know, no smoke without fire!
