FIFA forms normalisation committee

FAM House, FIFA has formed an formalisation Committee for the FAM to revise the statutes of FAM.

Male’, MALDIVES – Football’s governing body, FIFA has formed a normalisation committee for the Football Association of Maldives today.

In a statement of FIFA website it says that the FIFA Emergency Committee has decided to appoint a normalization committee for the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) in accordance with art. 7 par. 2 of the FIFA Statutes.

The decision to appoint a normalization committee follows the collapse of the FAM Congress in September and resignations of several of the members of the FAM Executive Committee, which made it impossible to reach the necessary quorum to take valid decisions.

The normalization committee will be in charge of revising the FAM statutes and organizing elections by 30th September 2015 at the latest.

The following are the members of the normalization committee appointed by FIFA:

Mr. Mohamed Shaweed, Chairman

Mr. Abdul Hameed Abdul Ghafoor, Deputy Chairman

Mr. Mohamed Nizam, Member

Mr. Ali Umar, Member

Mr. Faseeh Zahir, Member

This is excellent news! Now to start the rebuilding process. This is going to take some time on account of the damage caused by Ilham and Azim, but I am hopeful that the committee will have learned the lessons of the two disastrous previous administrations that ran FAM.

Agree, this is a great opportunity and the more reason the football loving community in our nation should take advantage of it and support the process. Get engaged and act positively. So good to see Addo, Nazim and A.Umar in the new helm. I know they are passionate and have great love for our football. As Imma said the rebuilding has started but let me emphasise, it's JUST started. the way up is long haul and will need patience and clubs and their supporters' full backing.
