Male’, MALDIVES – Maldives National team coach Drago Mamic has said that he is satisfied with the training camp held in Bangkok for the last ten days in preparation for the AFC Challenge Cup.
Speaking to maldivesoccer.com at the airport just after the arrival from Bangkok Drago said that it was a fantastic training camp.
“I am very pleased with the training camp and I used all the players during the three friendly games and the first two matches were very good but in the third match I gave the chance to the other players.”
“I just checked the players for the positions during the three games and with the help of those three games I got an idea about it.”
When asked about the final squad for the AFC Challenge Cup, Drago said that still he didn’t finalize it.
“Still I didn’t finalize the final squad for the tournament. Ammadey is injured and still need to monitor his situation.” Drago added.
Drago also defended his previous comments about the short time he got to prepare team.
“Yes I will say again that we don’t need six or seven months to prepare. We had a different situation in the Maldives and I can understand that. But still I will say I have enough time to prepare the team for this tournament.”
“And we have to focus the matches one by one and we will keep on going.”
Maldives will play their first game against Myanmar on 19th May at 2100 hours. Drago has worked with Myanmar national team during the past and he has some idea about them.
