I think Maldives should scrap Football as is played by the Clubs as in the first second and third division. Instead we should continue in this vein and play six a side or futsal. Many advantages. Less space required, everyone can organise a tournament, more pitches can be laid in the country, enough spectators to fill in the smaller pitches, can involve companies, shorter time for tournaments, no need to pay exorbitant salaries for players, no need to train every day, etc....

I don’t think even this tournament is going to continue for long, already there are signs the excitement is fizzling out. The organisers have failed to make the necessary upgrades to keep the competition exciting. It is the same dusty grounds, no effort is made to have it on a turf pitch, the same couple of team is winning every year, some offices with their absolute power get first division players, let them join their office even if it means to create a new job for them. This is level of unprecedented power welded by select offices, they indiscriminately use it by bending rules as if winning this tournament be-all and end-all. Sooner rather than later organisers will realise their own mistakes but by then it will be too late. This goes with every other sports, leave everything on its own accord, never bother to respond to evolving circumstances. Our domestic football is suffering the same fate but FAM is stuck in time-warp!!!
