Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant’s care taker coach Sobah Mohamed has said that their main target in the AFC Cup is not to lose a home game ahead of their match against Lao FC tomorrow.

“Our main target is not to lose a home game and it's very important for us to win it. If we lose a home game it will be very difficult for us to confirm a place in the second round.” Sobah said in the pre match press conference held at National Football Stadium today.

He also added that the players and supporters are aware of the situation of the club and he got just a week to prepare for this game.

“We all knew the situation of the team and I've been working with the team for the last one week as the care taker coach. And we are fully prepared for the game against Lao FC.”

Sobah also reiterated that the match against Indonesia’s Persib Bandung was an away game and the result of that match wouldn’t affect this game.

“It was an away match in Indonesia and I don't think that the result of that match wouldn't affect to this game.”

On the other hand Lao FC coach David Booth said that he has never seen New Radiant playing in the last few years.

”I've not seen New Radiant playing during the last few years but I knew that they were the strongest side in the Maldives.”

“This is our first venture for international tournament. And it's a big game for us.”

“In our first game we played cautious style of playing but second half it was different. And we finished the game as we wanted to. We didn’t concede an early goal so it was a good game for us.”

When asked about the importance of the experience at this level he replied.

“Everything is new but we got national players and they have experience at international level. So I don't think that experience would be a problem for us.”

New Radiant will play against Lao FC tomorrow at 1600 hours at National Football Stadium.

i think soba will remain as the coach for the rest of the season... no need to bring in anybody because this NRSC is useless...

Ultimately all the chopping and changing has taken its toll on NRSC. They should've kept Kingsley and Mansa Sylla. Both players wanted to stay on and dearly loved the club, yet after two years of outstanding loyal service, they got brushed out. They have been leaking goals ever since. Now, it seems with every bad result, they feel the need to undergo a complete overhaul, from the manager to foreign players. The ideal thing for them to have done was to analyze the problems within the club after the POMIS Cup. Yet, they wasted that opportunity by getting rid of their three foreign signings before they had even settled in, instead keeping Mika Lonnstrom even though everyone knew that he was the source of most of their on-pitch problems. Now they wasted a fortune on terminating the contracts of their coach and assistant, 3 foreign players, and then bringing in 3 new overseas signings. Now they don't even have a proper coach and their youth academy does not have a leading figure anymore.
