Male’, MALDIVES - The head of the Members Association of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Primo Corvaro has said that the decision regarding FAM elections will be made by higher authorities of FIFA. Speaking to the press after FAM executive committee made the decision to postpone the elections for the second time, Primo said that he was unhappy with the attitude of the members of the third division.

“I don’t know their main problem. They kept on shouting and shouting. I understood a few of their problems. I can’t understand the reasons why they are so upset when United Victory decided not to vote. I know they are candidates for the executive committee and they were unhappy. They could have waited to raise the objections in the general assembly. There are provisions in the general assembly that if they are unhappy with the proceedings they could have raised the issue”

Primo also noted that the decision by United Victory not to take part in the elections was made by them.

“United Victory made their decision from their board. It is up to them to take part in the vote or not. In some of the countries, the club members have to attend the congress, but in this case it is not”

Meanwhile, Primo noted the problems regarding the delegates have to be resolved prior to the elections.

“To hold the elections, I think we need to resolve the problems with the delegates. If we can’t resolve the problems we can’t have the elections again and the problems will continue. It has to be resolved”

“I can’t stipulate what will happen now. I will report back to FIFA about the problems and the higher authorities will decide. They could go for an interim committee to host the elections. But I don’t know. It is up to the higher authorities now to decide on how we could proceed”

"I am again very disappointed with the actions of the members. You can't proceed an election like this"

The elections was first postponed on 18th July after the elections was brought to a disrupt over United Victory’s vote. Today, the 3rd division preliminary voting to select the two candidates who would represent the third division was brought to a halt by Ahmed Niyaz, Ali Shameem and Madhih Ismail. They claimed that FIFA and AFC officials met with suspended VB Addu FC board member Shaveedh and FAM executive committee without the knowledge of the elections committee and decided to cancel the voting rights of United Victory.

FAM elections now will be held based on the decision of FIFA.

i find it too funny how people still take their precious time to blame azim for this. you know what? if ilham had kept quiet on the REAL day of the elections, everything would be fine today. FIFA wouldn't have to make the decision about out elections, and more importantly, football would probably be governed by someone who has a good background in the sport.

Azim and his boys have to take blame for these election saga...if they had not registered some guy not even passed and signed by board members of United Vitcotry today the repuatation of our game would have not have been destroyed. Sure I prefere Azim over Ilham. but that was a mistake and it has to be solved.
