Male’, MALDIVES – Victory Sports Clubs Coach Ali Suzain who verbally attacked New Radiant Sports Club ahead of the game finally congratulated NRSC for winning the ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi League.

New Radiant won the match by 3-1 after Victory took the lead early in the first half from a strike by Awilo. Ali Ashfaaq scored two goals and Ivan scored the leveler for New Radiant.

Speaking at the post match press conference, Suzain congratulated NRSC and coach Mohammed Shiyaz (Mohan) saying that with the win has brought the euphoria of Maldivian football back on track.

“First of all, I congratulate New Radiant and its new management as they won the Dhiraagu Dhivehi League”.

“It has been ages for the big club (NRSC) to win a title, and as they won it, the football euphoria is back”.

Speaking about the game Suzain also noted the superb performance of NRSCs striker Ali Ashfaq.

“As I said earlier, there was nothing we can get from the game unlike them (NSRC)”.

“But senior players including Dhagandey and all did their job superb”.

“NRSC’s senior players knew what they have to get form the game and they made it. They performed well”.

“It was a good day for NRSC”.

With the win against Victory, NRSC secured the league title with 43 points and they still have two games in hand. Even if NRSC loses their next two games, Maziya who is in the second position will not be able to get enough points.

NRSC’s Head Coach Mohan who attended the press briefing wearing a blue t-shirt with “Champions” on its front said that the success was the effort of the whole club and said that he was proud of the win.

“I am very happy. I want to thank Allah for his will”.

“It’s a win by all of us. Players, management, coaching staffs, board members and most of all our beloved supporters”.

“The management has always backed me, and I am proud that the investment by the management did not go for a waste”.

Mohan refused to comment on verbal attacks of Suzain prior to the match. He also said that even though they have won the league having two games in hand, his side would still work to win the last two games.

This is the first time Mohan won a title with NRSC. But former assistant Coach of National Team said that this wasn’t his best moment. Mohan was the Assistant Coach of National team when they won SAFF Championship at 2008.

“This isn’t the best moment of my life”.

“Winning the SAFF Championship was the best moment of my footballing career”.

As NRSC won the Dhiraagu Dhivehi League, they have now qualified for the AFC Cup 2013.

Congratulations to NRSC. I hope that next year they will pose a serious challenge in the AFC Cup and make this country proud. For this to happen, the senior players should of course remain at the club instead of running off after the money to somewhere else.
