Male’, MALDIVES – Maziya Sports and Recreations Head Coach Ismail Mahfooz (Imma) was furious with the referee after their 1-0 to Victory Sports Club in the ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi League this afternoon.

Ahmed Afsah was the referee officiated today’s game. Maziya claimed that he denied a clear penalty for them. Speaking at the press briefing after the game, Imma said that refereeing was poor. But he said he don’t blame the referee for their loss.

“I am not blaming the referee for our loss, but I would say this is another game in which referee should be responsible for some extent”.

“I don’t know why, but he (referee) denied us a clear penalty. It was a clear penalty and it happened right in front him. He purposely denied it!”

Imma said that his side accepts the defeat despite the poor officiating of the game.

“I accept the defeat. I am not that happy that we lost the game, but I would say the game was not bad”.

Even though Maziya lost today’s game, they are still in the second position with just a point ahead of Victory who won today’s game.

Speaking at the press conference Victory Sports Clubs Head Coach Ali Suzain said that he is pleased with the performance even though the game is pointless for his side.

“It’s a pointless game for us, and we played because it was scheduled and we had to. I am happy that we won the game and the players worked hard as well”.

“Sentey has been performing well. But he has not reached to the level he was before. At the moment his physical fitness and passing is very good. He played the 90 minutes today and did not show any sign of tiredness”

Imma has a valid point there. These young refs ruin perfectly good matches with their inefficient handling and awful decision-making. They are like the twelfth-player for the team they favours the decision with. But they cannot be blamed entirely for it is bounded to happen. Because they are too prematurely thrown into the mix of these high-profile games without been treated enough to the pressure that come with it. So what happen is, rather than making a decision purely on the basis of logical context, they get carried away in the decision making, their decision colouring their emotion so profoundly.

every time Suzain say it is a pointless game..scheduled matches are not pointless games. Being a coach he should not say that. he has a big squad, give young players a chance to play to get more experience.
