Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant Sports Club are the Champions of Dhiraagu Dhivehi League 2012 after they securing three points against Victory Sports Club in the match played tonight. New Radiant won the match by 3-1 after Victory took the lead early in the first half from a strike by Awilo. Ali Ashfaaq scored two goals and Ivan scored the leveler for New Radiant.
New Radiant was last crowned the champions of Dhivehi League in 2006.
In the 5th minute, Umair delivered a good ball to Adhuham inside the box. However, keeper Imran blocked Adhuham’s shot.
In the 16th minute, Adhuham dribbled inside the penalty area and took a cross, but Hansley cleared Awilo’s shot.
In the 17th minute, Ashfaaq tackled Shifan near the corner post. Referee awarded a yellow card for the tackle.
Victory broke the deadlock in the 29th minute. Umair dribbled from the left flank into the penalty area and took a low cross. Awilo touched the ball into the net from the far corner of the penalty area.
In the 36th minute, Fauzan managed to beat two defenders of New Radiant and his shot was well saved by keeper Imran.
In the 44th minute, Fazeel’s cross into the penalty area was headed down by Ashfaaq to Ivan. His shot outside the penalty area went to the far corner of the goal.
In the 49th minute, Awilo took a good cross from the right side of the penalty area. Fauzan attempted the ball but Kingsley cleared the ball for a corner.
Umair gave a good ball to Adhuham inside the box, but his shot was punched away by keeper Imran.
In the 66th minute, Ivan gave a good pass to Ashfaaq who controlled the ball outside the penalty area and took the shot. It went to the far corner of the goal.
New Radiant extended their lead in the 89th minute. Ivan supplied a good ball inside the box to Ashfaaq who was unmarked inside the penalty area and he made no mistake to send the ball to the goal.
