Kathmandu, NEPAL - After the semifinal game against India, Some local officials and Referee had shown an unsporting behavior against Maldives coach, Istvan Urbanyi.

After the final whistle, Maldives players left out the frustration to the referee. Two red cards were awarded to Ali Umar and Mohamed Rasheed (hockey) in the incident.

Maldives captains Ali Ashfaq and keeper Imran Mohamed tried to calm down the players, but the players were seen out of control.

While the match officials were leaving the pitch with the protection from some locales, Urbanyi was waiting near the sideline to shake hands with the officials.

When Urbanyi gave his hand to Jordan referee Idham Mohammad Tumah Makhadmeh for a hand shake, he pulled Urbanyi’s head and pushed from his shoulder, after that some local officials pushed Urnabyi forcing on his chest.

“That’s ridiculous, I felt very sorry about it. I don’t know what to say I don’t know who that was” Urbanyi said regarding the incident.

Maldives players showed their frustration as referee didn’t award a penalty while Ashfaq was brought down by Indian keeper and awarded a yellow card for Ashfaq for simulation.

Indian beat Maldives by 1-0 in the semifinal to set up a final against Afghanistan

We don’t know the proper sequence of events but we did not do anything to enhance our image or discipline, so will have wait and see video replay. As for the match, coach’s tactics undid us today. 3-4-3 is a dangerous system to play against such a physical side as India. Having seen how the first half panned out coach should have gone to 2-4-4 to consolidate defense and relieve the load on midfield. Our midfielders were either chasing the ball or going too deep into their own half to help defenders and when they get the ball, kept slowly passing the ball at the back and hit a long ball. How will that help strikers? That is as well as giving possession to opposition. Even if coach was waiting for a miracle to happen with Ashfaq getting the ball that was asking for too much!! He can do so much, if he is supplied with good balls but indian players strong on stamina were relentless in their pressing and well-marking, he was too isolated for much of the game. We were sticking to a tactic that that had no plan B or plan C. There was no creative play in the midfield, we never had the control of midfield, waited too long to reshuffle or bring the changes. As for referee he played some part to spoil the game. India was using all kind of ugly tactics, like lunging on the knee of shafiu, a red-card offence but referee did not see any foul there. Above all he waved away a clear penalty claim, booked dhagay for simulation. But we cannot completely blame referee for the defeat, we underestimated India too much and were hoping for too easy a game. We should blame our tactics! us! Our mindset!

If local officials from Nepal (Anfa) mishandled the coach then it should be investigated. Poor Neplease people don't know how bad is to touch others . Saff championship is now becoming the tough competition in this south asia. It would have been better if Maldives had won against India. I personally feels the India doesn't deserve the title. But, its not always better side win the match. However, its true better side wins the title more. Simple, India is better in football among all south asian countries. so, time to work cooperatively for development of soccer with more matches in age groups

Mr NEd how could you say officials from Nepalese FA? What we have done unfair on you? did officials went on the ground and play football against you on favor of India? Why you people are so stupid when you are lost? why don ' t you accept your weaknesses? you always blame to ground, referee, coach, opponent and up to the level of FA and officials. So to win you need favorism from all these? Without favor you win only against BHUTAN? Please correct your poor mentality and come to the reality.

Baka and Niya combination did not work in Afghan Match. They were reluctant to pass each other, Niya had an awful game. They did not have the confidence to play against the Indian Midfield. Coach defended Ashfag on his play acting in Bhutan match where he got booked. Ones you start play acting referees will be taking note of that. Asfag has done that in previous tournaments. He does not need to use such low level tactics. Officials are humans and bias will always be there(Biggest revenue for games do come from India). Urbani failed to make impact in the game. It was not going well for us but he did not make a single substitution. What was he waiting for? a miracle from Ashfag. We had a good team but it all comes down to one point we did not prepare for the tournament. Did not play enough friendlies to get the team working. It showed today how our team did not have the confidence to play against India. Nightmares of previous semifinals with them, probably haunted the players. The team who played best won the Match.

I would say the tactics of our coach was a failure from the start of this tournament. It was showing up from Bhutan match onwards. Its like the coaches passing game is based in our own half. So many passes to the back and goalie. Only the goal scoring magic of the forwards kept the team at bay. Sadly when this did not happen all sorts of holes and gaps showed up. Firstly the coach should have clearly analysed opponent teams and weaknesses like they do with us. For example in India match (since I dont remember most opponents by name in other games) all our attacks were sent towards the right side where the best Indian sideback played (Syed Nabi). This was a BIG tactical failure. As mentioned before Baka - Niya combo was a failure as well. They barely played a ball to each other or helped our each other. There should have been a better MF, DefMF or OffMF player to connect them instead hoping for the forwards to drop back and collect balls. Overall in this tournament Maldives barely did much pressing at the back or in the mid. Mostly waiting for the ball to come to them. Also there was not much strategy or plan about second balls collection. In overall the failure is mainly on the coach for tactical failure. He should have had a plan B or C. of course dhagey will be marked. smart teams will even mark our midfielders since thats where you kill the game. And opponent teams will try any means necessary to win (play dirty or wrestling matches) but not to have been able to produce a single productive attack pattern is a huuuge blunder. I am v sad that we went our with the best squad we had in years. I reminisce the agony of previous loosing times that had the likes of thodoo and Ayya and Saya... BUt this time on skills and physical alone I thought we should go through and clinched it. Truly sad to have missed this chance.... Time to had back to drawing board. Doesn't matter if that was a penalty or not (shame on after match conduct :( ) I strongly wish Maldives would get a better tactical coach and find someone who would win with exploiting opponent weakness and maximizing our strength instead of our players doing whatever nilly willy they see fit! A coach should also play his role in mentally preparing the team better instead of making excuses like pitch was bad... they fouled or it should have been a penalty. We should get an Italian or a French coach. (or even Popov. He's pretty good without Dhagey or Umair. He knows how to tactically set the game plan.)

its time to change the management. Our players did their best and they deserved to be appreciated. However, the technical and the management team to be changed immediately. We need to find away to strengthened our national league and concentrate more on youth development programs. Since v have won this competition now its time we encourage this opportunity to our youth team. In assisting clubs finacially, (giving a subsidy) could strengthened. Lastly, appreciating NEw RADIANT for their contribution to the national team.

It is high time Maldives come face to face with the truth. We have a good team, but when we compare It with the best country in this region. I personally Think that we still have a few more steps to clime. Ashfaaq is noted as one of the best in this region, but let'. Also not forget that he also play acts. It had gone in his favor twice in the tournament. Unfortunately in the most important match it did not. Had he tried to use his skill in dribbling skills to skip past the keeper, it would have been the perfect goal for him and for us. But instead he chose the short and easy route. Speaking of things going bad. It had gotten worse from the point FAM decided to let Mr.Urbanyi take charge of the team. He had failed to prove his worth time and time around, yet they keep on returning to him. He is not standard of coach Maldives requires. We need some one better. Who has the knowledge and guts to take the necessary decisions in the right time.
