Umarube to represent Victory in FAM election

Interim Chairperson Mohamed Hameed (Umarbe) will represent Victory in the FA election

Male’, MALDIVES – Victory Sports Clubs board has decided that club’s interim chairperson Mohamed Hameed (Umarube) will represent the club in the upcoming Football Association of Maldives (FAM) election to be held on 26th January.

Victory Sports Club’s general secretary Ismail Zariyandh said last night that after the emergency board meeting the members of the board has decided that Umarube will represent the club.

“We have held an emergency board meeting tonight (last night) and the board members has decided that Umarube will represent the club in the FAM election.”

“Previously we have passed a resolution that Ibrahim Nashid will represent the club.”

Zariyandh also said that the club’s decision on which candidate to support is not changed but the change was only for the clubs representative.

“We have said that even before that we will be supporting the current FA president Ali Azim and the decision is same. We didn’t change it, the only change is for the club's representative.”

FIFA appointed electoral committee has decided to host the election on 26th of this month and the primary of second division and third division on 25th.

The elections was first postponed on 18th July after the elections was brought to a halt over United Victory’s vote. For the second time it was brought to a halt after claims that FIFA and AFC officials met with suspended VB Addu FC board member Shaveedh and FAM executive committee without the knowledge of the elections committee and decided to cancel the voting rights of United Victory.
