Well prepared says Amiri

Male’, MALDIVES – Afghanistan captain Zohib Islam Amiri has said that they are well prepared for the upcoming AFC Challenge Cup, which is scheduled to start on next Monday.

Speaking to the press at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport on their arrival Amiri said that they have played friendly games to prepare for this tournament.

“We played some friendly games against Kyrgyzstan and Kuwait and this is the first time that we prepared for a tournament like this.” Said the Afghan captain who lift the SAFF Championship last year.

Amiri also said that they have some new players in the squad and it was a good combination.

“Yeah the squad is changed and we have some new as well as young players with experienced players and it's a mixed team. The squad is very good.”

Amiri also reiterated that they are happy to compete in this tournament.

“We won the last edition of SAFF Championship and it’s really good. Our main target is now to win AFC Challenge Cup and Insha Allah I hope we will win this tournament.”

Afghanistan lies in the Group B along with Turkmenistan, Laos and Philippines.
