Male’, MALDIVES – Philippines striker Phil Younghusband has said that AFC Challenge Cup is not an easy competition and they have to do their homework and research on every team to win this tournament.

In an exclusive interview given to maldivesoccer.com Younghusband (26), who has scored 5 goals for Philippines during the AFC Challenge Cup Qualification said they are ready for the tournament.

“All the teams in this tournament are strong and no easy game in this competition. We have to do homework and research on the team and make sure that we know their weakness and what's strong.”

“We are well ready for the competition we feel quite confident. This is not an easy competition and there are lots of tough teams in the competition and I think any team has the chance of winning Challenge Cup.”

“The spirit is very good within the players and we know we have to be in our best and we have to be ready. If we take any team lightly and we are not prepared we know that we are going to lose.”

The England born Younghusband also reiterated that they have a stronger team than 2012 AFC Challenge Cup.

“I think we have a stronger team this time. We have Stephane, Schrock and we have lots of players that we have in 2012. I think teams obviously will do their homework on us and we have a new coach and I think we also have lots of new things. And teams will be more careful with us than 2012.”

Young also praised the Philippino’s for their continuous support for the team even when they are abroad.

“Philippino’s are everywhere and whenever we go to any country they will be there. Even if we play an away game it feels like we are playing a home game.”

Younghusband has scored 34 goals from 56 games for the Azkals.
