Male', MALDIVES - Real Madrid’s former defender Angel Perez Garcia has been appointed as the new head coach of New Radiant Sports Club.

Speaking at a press conference held at FAM House tonight, New Radiant’s chairman Ali Waheed said that they were very happy to have a coach at this level.

“We are very happy to have a coach like this. He has played for Real Madrid in early 80’s and he has played with players like Camacho (former Spain and China coach) and Vicente Del Bosque (current Spain coach).”

“I am sure it will help the club as well as the Maldivian football and also it will help us to expose ourselves.”

Balack also said that they will not publish the details of the agreement with the coach.

“We will keep it as a confidential thing. And the coach will join us before the New Radiant night, which is scheduled to host on 3rd January”

Perez Garcia has helped Real Madrid to win titles in the early 80’s.

Great News again. I really admire the effort new radiant is putting into improving Maldivian football. I feel that as much as possible all clubs should invest in experienced coaches. I hope that the coach works on fitness of our players. I know that is lacking a lot in our players even when compared at regional levels. I watched the live stream of Recently concluded mnc cup in Indonesia and I felt that it was our stamina and endurance which let us down. Our boys may understand technical aspects but I felt that they they didn't have enough stamina to put it into action. Need immediate action and improvement in this area to increase our chance of winning the afc challenge cup. Almost six more months to go. Wishing all the best to Maldivian football.

How is it that New Radiant are able to appoint top notch coaches and the national team is not? Perhaps FAM needs to take a leaf out of NRSC's management style.

I know a Spanish youth member who has been coached by Garcia, when he was in Panama. Acoording to him, he's a great person with lots of passion for helping other people, hence his world travelling career around the world, sometimes helping the developing of football in countries whose FIFA ranking is lower down the table. Good Luck to NR and its youth team.
