FAM House, Executive committee has decided to allow teams from MNDF and Police to take part in tournaments organized by FAM

Male’, MALDIVES – Executive committee of Football Association of Maldives has decided to allow teams from the Maldives Police Service and Maldives National Defense Force to take part in tournaments organized by FAM.

Speaking to maldivesoccer.com FAM’s official said that the decision was made in a meeting held at the FAM house this evening.

“The Executive Committee has decided to allow teams from Defence Force and Maldives Police Service to take part in FAM tournaments"

FAM’s then president Ali Azim said that the omission of Defence Force and Police Service was due to various reasons. On September 26, 2010 Azim said that the decision was made due to these reasons.

“The executive committee decided not to participate MNDF and Police because of various issues. Their disciplinary issues in the two years were also taken into consideration. Personally, I don’t believe there should be any disciplinary issues by such an organisation if they are professional enough”

“Secondly, a lot of sacrifices have been put by a lot of clubs to take football to today’s level. It would be unfair for them, if there are clubs who have all the resources already allocated to participate.”

“We do not believe that the two sports that both clubs participate are in the level it has to be. We don’t think the football in Maldives would improve if both these clubs are allowed to participate”

The official from FAM also said with this decision players from both the organisation can play for other teams as well.

Very good. This is a dream come true!!!! But there is one more thing to do. Play football in HOME and AWAY system. For example next year Mahibadhoo is playing in 1st division, so my point is that they DESEVERS a home game at their Island. A Mahibadhoo game against the mightly New radiant at Male' will not have as much dedicated supporters than the game being played in Mahibadhoo!!!:: Anyway lets see for the timebeing what MNDF and MPS can do to Maldivian football, they surely have very good talents "locked" in their family.

Playing the Home-Away format is the proper thing to do in a round-robin league format. However, I sadly cannot see it happening in the near future due to finances. Most of our clubs are knee deep in debts right now, how are they going to cope when having to travel. Of course, travelling to away matches would mean further costs for accommodation, food etc. Plus, most of the players are semi-pros, meaning they have other full time jobs to deal with. I want to see the Dhivehi League played on a home and away basis, but it's going to take a long time for that to happen.

@Imma; i respect your view and i know what you are saying. But just one question. ( i hope that you already know that Mahibadhoo will train in their home island and will travel to male for games). Will it not be costly for Mahibadhoo to travel??? Are they having professional players that they decided to play this way??? :::: No imma. You are talking and trying to defend this Male clubs. I know for them it will be costly. But for GOD sake why no body gave damn about the cost of Huriyya while they played 1 division??!! Why no body said anything about the clubs from the Islands. Why no body is talking about the huge cost of those islanders being forced to play in Male???!!! Please Imma don't be one-sided, you are wise enough to see what is going on here.

@Imma, MS and all; what happened to MS forum??? Is there any hope to see it back??? Coz, i am right now doing some calculations and analysis about implementing the H-A league system here. And from what i see it is really good to go with H-A. But i would like to have this as a discussion for that this comment section is not enough.

I would love to see an MS forum. This commenting on posts is very tedious. And I completely agree with your opinions on home-away fixtures. Just wanted to state a possible barrier for this dream to become a reality. I like the fact that Mahibadhoo are sort of taking initiative regarding this matter, hopefully they will perform well this season and other clubs will follow suit.

MPS and MNDF will now dominate soccer and other clubs will have a tough time competing with them. 1. They will have paid players, paid by the government. 2. They will have players who has accommodation and food paid for by the government. 3. To cover it up, they will get the cream of the sponsors, simply because they ARE THE MNDF and POLICE. No sponsors can refuse them right?

This is the end of the competition as MNDF N POLICE has unlimited money from our TAX. Worst decision by FAM EXCO. Instead MNDF n POLICE should allow their players to play for clubs.
