The truth is Faisal was informed by National Team Coach that he is the 4th choice goal keeper, so there is no use for him to turn up for practices when he will be left out ven the team leaves for Thailand knowing that the Coach will omit him. But the big question is has the 2 remaining goalkeepers Ifrah of BG and Imran of Maziya enough experience at this level to perform if Imrann of NRSC gets injured. I guess no, Coach you have taken a big risk by leaving out Faisal for what ever reason. There are players in the squad like Yaamin, Naattay and even Hockay who have not performed at all in the league which you have taken along. This is not ur team rather some one elses team whom you are getting an easy ride. Finders crossed.

I think Mohamed Imran of Maziya has shown that he is a very capable keeper in this year's AFC Cup. We have issues in our defence, but I think our goalkeeping department has been covered.

It is unfortunate that Faisal had to quit but family must take precedence if it is a matter of huge concern. As for somebody from each island to offer national team a sermon, a declaration of nation’s hopes ahead of their preparation for SAFF championship, that is ill-timed. Of all the people Suzain, the director of national teams, should have known better the kind of pressure it creates for the players with high expectations of the nation playing on their mind. It should have been small affairs with business as usual, players given enough time for preparation, not making such a big hoopla out of it. Past history has been one of bittersweet with players being dragged into different public forums and being addressed, players’ nervousness on the pitch making them unsettled and finally being mere shadow of themselves. It should have been made as minimal as possible. England has one of the biggest leagues in the world but their national team is doing below par, because of the virulent media and sky-high expectation of their football crazy fans. We should have known about this. Don’t add more pressure than they are already under. Just let them take this as another big competition where they should try to emulate the performances of 2008 .
