Maldives 7 - 1 Laos: Seven star win for Maldives

Male', MALDIVES - Maldives beat Laos with 7 -1 goal fiesta in their home friendly match played tonight. Ali Fasir and Ali Ashfaq scored twice while Bokury, Aduham and Shamweel scored for Maldives while Sihavong scored the only goal for Laos.

Maldives started the match pressing hard and in the first minute of the game Ashfaq penetrated Laos defense line and make every one up with a powerful shot on target. But Laos’s goalkeeper Vathana punched the ball to clear the danger.

In the fourth minute of the game, Maldives reputable football player Mukhthar Naseer was granted with retirement honor from International football after he was substituted for Niyas (Bokury).

Ali Fasir handed the lead for Maldives in the 10th minute of the game, Fasir matched with Umair’s timely through pass inside the penalty area and made no mistake to bullet pass his lower shot in to the net.

Seventeen minutes remaining in the first half Maldives right back Akram delivered a good cross in to the penalty area but Fasir failed to finish his touch in to the goal.

Just after the kick off to the second half Laos leveled the game with a fine finish from Sihavong. Sihavong beat his marker and swiped his lower shot from inside the penalty area in to the far bottom corner of the goal.

In the next minute Bokury regained the lead for Maldives. Bokury and Laos goalkeeper Vathana met in a 50-50 attempt just outside the penalty area and Bokury chipped the ball over in to the goal from long range.

In the 60th minute of the game Maldives was awarded with a penalty kick as Laos substitute goalkeeper Somvang brought down Ashfaq inside the penalty area. Somvang cautioned with a yellow card for his offence.

Ashfaq initiated and conver the spot kick in to the right corner of the goal to make it 3 -1 in favor of Maldives.

In the next minute Ashfaq scored his second and 4th for Maldives with a beautiful volley pasted in to the net where Umair delivered the cross.

In the 67th minute, Laos went close to score but Saysana’s powerful shot from right flank went inches away from far post.

Shamweel Ghasim (Bonda) scored the fifth goal for Maldives in the 74th minute. Bonda’s timely header from close range found the back of the net to exhaust the joy for home fans.

Eighty second minute of the game Aduham scored the sixth goal for Maldives. Ibrahim Fazeel (Oppo) supplied a good cross in to the penalty are and Aduhan made no mistake to head the ball in the goal.

In the next minute Fasir made it incredible 7 – 1 win for Maldives with his solo goal. Fasir dribbled past in to the penalty area and fired his powerful shot in to the back of the net giving no chance to goalkeeper.

not happy with team work overall, specially in first half. ashfaq and umair combination was weak. still too much focus on ashfaq. we need to stop that and play as a team. i know everyone loves ashfaq so do i, he is the best we have. but lets face it. keep playing like this and soon he will be no more and what then? we go down in history like srilanka.
