We deserve this result – Drago

Male’, MALDIVES – Maldives national team coach Drago Mamic has said that the result against Laos in the friendly game was a well-deserved result for Maldives.

Speaking to maldivesoccer.com just after the match Drago said if Maldives performed poorly they couldn’t score 7 goals against Laos.

“If we performed poorly we couldn’t score 7 goals against Laos and Laos is not a weak team. We got this result and we deserved this result.” Drago said.

When asked about the defense line Drago said that they have some problems in the defense.

“We have some problems in defense but in the first half it was little bit ok but in the second half we had some misunderstanding between the players. And we will try to fix this before our first game in AFC Challenge Cup.”

“Amdhan is a very good player but the problem was he cannot participate in all practice sessions due to injury but now he is fully recovered from injury and I am very happy to have him.”

Drago also defended his comments he made before about find a way not to depend on Ashfaq in all the matches.

“When I came here I told you that I will not depend of Ashfaq and this result showed you that other players can beat players and score goals without Ashfaq.”

“Ashfaq is having some problem with his back and he played with injury. I was afraid to push him to play and that was the reason why we couldn’t see a good performance from him in tonight’s game.”
