Maldives into semi final

Male’, MALDIVES – Maldives got a place in the semi final of Independence Golden Jubilee Veterans Football Tournament as the second team from the group when Indonesia beat Singapore by 1-0.

Maldives will play against India today at 1630 hours National Football Stadium. Maldives lost their match against Indonesia last night by 1-0 but they managed to win against Singapore by 2-1.

In this morning Indonesia beat Singapore by 6-0 to book a place in the semi final of the tournament as the group winners.

This is yet another way of dumping down peoples money in the name of independence day celebration. Just to keep people attention from so many negatve stories breaking out angainst a autocratic govenment. Pathatic!

This is a great tournament. We understand extremistly politicised hotheads won't want anything anywhere apart from politics, until they get their hands on the public pot of money or they get bored. No need to spoil everybody's fun on the way.

They actually tried to organize this tournament for the senior team, completely unaware of the fact that we had to play crucial World Cup qualifiers. In the end, I think Popov had a strong word with the perpetrators to arrange a training camp instead. So now we have a bunch of middle-aged guys huffing and puffing on a football pitch, with next to zero interest among the local supporters for the tournament. Money well spent...
