Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant Sports Club move to the top of Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League after beating Mahibadhoo Sports Club by 2-1 tonight. Viliam and Mohamed Shifan scored the goals for New Radiant.


New Radiant Sports Club started the game without their four key players including keeper Alisher, Ashad Ali, Rilwan Waheed and Mohamed Rasheed.


New Radiant created the first chance of the match in the 11th minute when Adam Isham penetrated the defense line and shot it into the gloves of the keeper.

Mahibadhoo’s Adam Sahir opened the scoring in the 20th minute after escaping the off side trap and beat the keeper to put the ball into the net.


In the 26th minute New Radiant’s Villiam leveled the game from a penalty when referee awarded a penalty to New Radiant after Fasir was brought down inside the box.

In the 53rd minute, Alamu missed a golden opportunity to take the lead when he controls the back pass from Mahibadhoo player but failed to put it into the net.

Six minutes later, Mohamed Shifan took the lead for New Radiant from a good header inside box from a corner kick taken by Villiam.

In the extra time of the game Ali Fasir hits the woodworks inside the box.

Victory Sports Club will play against TC Sports Club on Sunday night at 2200 hours.

Better improve the performance as an improving Valencia waits in the wings. NRSC will be given a good run for their money in the next match as Valencia will be a much more experienced and a tough team to beat than Mahibadhoo.
