Male’, MALDIVES – Maldives National football team has lost their second friendly match against Thailand U19 by 3-2 today. Hassan Adhuham and Asadhulla Abdulla scored the two goals for Maldives.

National team coach, Istvan Urbanyi used a young team compared to the first match against Thai premier league side Osotspa two days back, which Maldives won by 3-2.

Maldives are gearing up for the upcoming SAFF Championship in Nepal which is scheduled to start on 31st of this month. Maldives will return on Sunday and on 28th they will fly to Kathmandu for the tournament.

Maldives won the tournament in 2008 and in the last two times (2009 and 2011) regional giants India was the champion.

Maldives, lies in group B, will start the tournament against Sri Lanka on 2nd September. Bhutan and Afghanistan are the other two teams in this group.

Not a bad performance if the coach used a young team. Only a week to start the tournament But only 2 friendly match's. This shows that F.A.M is incapable of making the national team any better. hope Maldives shows good football in the tournament

Under 19?? seriously!! This time we are going to loose big time in the championship...whether or not it was a practice match, the national squad of maldives should be capable of defeating a couple of teenagers..and saying that it was the bench team is a pathetic excuse :/ Disappointed!
