Blues terminate Garcia contract

Mar 04, 2014 - 02:06:36 | Shimaz Ali
New Radiant's coach Perez Garcia in his first training session with New Radiant.

Male', MALDIVES - New Radiant Sports Club has terminated the contract of coach Angel Perez Garcia today on mutual understanding.

In a statement on club website it states the club is already working on to find a replacement.

A reliable source has confirmed that both the coach and the club agreed to terminate the contract mostly because of the delay in domestic season and lack of competitive games. Also releasing the players for AFC Challenge Cup for more than a month will leave the club practices on hold.

Coach Garcia also highlighted these issues on his Facebook page as main reasons to leave the club so early.

So this means he came here to Coach only the national team players in NRSC not the young and developing players. The truth is New Radiant got rid of Garcia as senior players were not happy with him and the performance of the team was not gud enough provided the time he was given for training and as POPOV was available New Radiant wanted him very badly. So in short Garcia was made the scapegoat to hire POpov.

This delayed start of league will be huge loss for the national team. An AFC Challenge cup in May and no competitive football for national team players except AFC Cup which is lot of travelling and playing twice a month means players are effectively on holidays since the end of last season in october. And there is no coach as yet for the national team and if and when sombody is designated it means  there is no way he will get the chance to see players in competitive football until the tornament. How will he select a team from a squad and prepare them for a the biggest tournament maldives is going to host.

"delay in domestic season" is due to the reason we have only one single full equipped stadium in the entire country. We need better infrastructure in football and other sports.

This was not the reason.. the main reason was that he is not qualified to train a team like NRSC... He is trying to do everything with the name of real madrid.. Do you guys agree that a coach who came to Maldives in a contract with New Radiant but wears a Real Madrid tie.??? what a joke!!!! :)

Because there played for Real Madrid, does not make a good coach. In Spain nobody knows and has no level. Right now there are techniques and tactics vanguard. This man is 57 years old and this clearly is a coach of the past.

I am starting to think the national team will never manage to appoint a coach with the current FAM management. Our best ever hope of qualifying for the Asian Cup has just gone down the drain. I know that New Radiant are looking to hire Popov, but I would like to see him given a shot at the national team.

The coaches run away cos we don't respect the job they did.last year Popov was doing great in newradiant, he got very good players but we saw his job, Boyko also did well with this poor menagement . we didn't respect the job he did as well. Both of them try to put discipline in the teams the lead, local coaches can't do this.our football going down day by day, this is the truth.
