Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant Sports Club has won their first game of this year’s AFC Cup after beating Singapore’s Home United by 1-0 today. New Radiant’s only goal was scored by Mohamed Umair from the spot.

New Radiant dominated the match throughout the game and in the 3rd minute Umair’s header in the box went wide from a ball cross by Mukhuthar Naseer.

In the 23rd minute of the Shamveel Qasim goes down in the box and appealed for a penalty but referee waved it off.

Seven minutes later, Shamveel made another good attempt on target from a header but Home United players cleared it for a corner kick.

In the 37th minute, New Radiant player’s appealed second time for a penalty as Home United’s Camara handled the ball inside the box.

Four minutes before the break Fasir penetrated the defense line and even beat the keeper but failed to convert it to a goal.

Ten minutes after the break, New Radiant broke the deadlock from the spot. Referee gave marching orders to Home United’s keeper Shahril for a foul on Fasir inside the box and referee awarded a penalty for the Blues.

In the 72nd minute Fasir missed another good chance to double the lead, his header went wide inside the box.

A minute later, Referee awarded a penalty for Home United for a foul committed by Akram inside the box but Keeper Imran saved the spot kick.

In the 79th minute, New Radiant introduced Hamza for his first AFC Cup match and created the best chance of the game but missed the target by inches.

Few minutes before the normal time Umair missed another good chance to score, keeper saved his shot and Ali Fasir had a close range shot missed the target.
