Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant’s coach Angel Perez Garcia has said that winning the match against Singapore’s Home United by 1-0 was a fantastic job by the players of New Radiant.
Speaking at the post match press conference Perez Garcia said that it was a difficult game but it was fantastic.
“It was a fantastic match and a fantastic job done by the players and I am really happy with that.”
“The match is very difficult and the opponent team is the best team in Singapore.”
He also added that they missed so many chances to score.
“We got very good open chances and we could score five or six goals. And the performance of the players was very good and I am very happy with that.”
“The most important thing on the field is to read the game and concentrate the game and they did it throughout the game.”
Garcia praised the performance of their captain Imran Mohamed, who has saved a penalty in the second half of the match.
“Imran is best goal keeper in (South) Asia and he has proved it even in today’s game. He saved the penalty and guaranteed us the three points.”
On the other hand Home United’s coach Lee Lim Saeng said that he was surprised with the performance of the Maldivian players.
“First I would like to congratulate Maldives team, Actually Maldivian players played very well and they are very good on the field. I am very surprised as this is the first time that I saw a team from Maldives playing.”
When asked about the penalty he said it was too early to comment about the penalty.
“It is too soon to judge about the penalty. As a coach I have to respect the decision of the referee. We got a penalty and we missed to score. So I think we were to blame for that.”
“After this match we will go back to Singapore and we will see the videos of the match try to minimize the mistakes that we made.”
