Maziya 2 - 1 Eagles: Maziya wins FA Cup

Male', MALDIVES - Maziya Sports and Recreation Club has clinched FA Cup 2012, after beating Club Eagles 2 - 1 in the final match played tonight. Maziya took the lead in the mid of the first half, but Eagles responded quickly and levels the game in three minutes. Ahmed Rasheed's header in the second half made it all the way clear for Maziya to win their first top trophy with the successive improvement in the last couple of years.

With the historical win, Maziya advanced to play in the AFC Cup 2013 Qualification round.

In the 10th minute of the game Yaamin tried with a shot from outside the penalty area but it went over the crossbar.

In the next minute Shinaz Hilmy back headed Mukhthar's left flank free kick, but it was too much elevated from close range.

Easa sent a powerful shot from long range in the 13th minute of the game, but it went direct in to goalkeeper Yamaan's hand.

Maziya got the lead in the 23rd minute with the own goal by Eagles defender Sobah Mohamed. Sobah tried with a volley to to clear Easa's left flank free kick, but it turned in to his own net.

Three minutes later Moosa Rameez leveled the game for Eagles. Rameez's shot from inside the penalty area hit goalkeeper Imran and rolled in to the goal.

Assadhulla dribbled past his marker and goalkeeper and sent a lower shot from inside the penalty area in the 38th minute, but skipper Assad cleared the ball from goal line.

Seven minutes in to the second half, Mukhthar went all alone in to Maziya penalty area after matching with a through pass, but his shot from inside the penalty area was saved by keeper Imran.

Ahmed Rasheed regain the lead for Maziya in the 58th minute with his close range header from Niyaz (Bokury)'s cross.

Two minutes later Mukhthar saw his free kick from left flank bounced back by the crossbar. In the rebounded ball Sobah got a good scoring chance, but his shot from inside the penalty area went direct to goalkeeper Imran.

Assadhulla well headed Ahmed Rasheed's cross in the 78th minute, but it went inches over the crossbar.

Eagles went close in the 81st minute, Shinaz Hilmy found the target with a diving header from Mukhthar's cross, but Yamaan was in the right place to save the ball.

Maziya has shown its patient building which leads to success. Imma deserves the success along with the players and the board. They are portraying a new wave of running the club at an affordable range of spending. They also have shown that its a team effort that leads to victory than depending on the one and only star player as Dhagey
