New Radiant appoint Imran as the captain

Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant Sports Club has appointed goal keeper Imran Mohammed as the captain and Umair and Ashfaq as the vice captain.

Speaking at a press briefing held at Football Association of Maldives (FAM) House this morning, Chairman of New Radiant Ali Waheed (Balak) said that the club management decided based on the performance and the leadership of the players in the team.

“The management came to the decision of appointing Imran as the captain based on the performance and the leadership of the players in the team. There are so many players who could be appointed to the positions. We also spoke to the players who captained the team before including Ali Umar, Thoirq and Lily as well. Former captian Thoriq is the club’s general secretary now. So based on all those, we decided to give the captain band to Imran. Ashfaq and Umair will be the vice captains of the team”

Speaking at the press, New Radiant’s newly appointed coach, Velizar Emilov Popov said that leadership is one of the most important aspects in winning titles.

“The management decided the club’s captains. I think it’s a good decision. Leadership is one of the most important aspects in winning titles and I hope the captains will fufill it”

Captain Imran said that it is a previlege to wear the arm band of the biggest club in the Maldives and he woul try his best to win titles for the club.

“New Radiant is the biggest Club and with the most number of supporters in the Maldives. It is a prevelige to wear the arm band of New Radiant and I thank the board members and the chairman in trusting me and giving me the band”

“Our target is to reach the second round of the AFC Cup and we woud be working hard to achieve that. I assure to the supporters that we would do everything, to win the titles for the club”

Balak also added that based on the suggestions and the views of the club supporters the management have changed their decision to wear dark blue jerseys as the home jersey for New Radiant.

“Based on the suggestions and the views of the club supporters we have decided to change the jerseys from sky blue to dark blue as the home jersey for New Radiant. We will be using the ligh blue for the home jersey for the youth team as we have already registered it in FAM. But for the senior team it would be dark blue”

Balak also urged the supporters to support the youth team's match played today against BG Sports.
