We are here to win the tournament says Urbanyi

Kathmandu, NEPAL - Maldives coach Istavan Urbanyi said their sole target of the competition is to win the SAFF championship.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference he said that there is high expectation from the supporters and he has a good squad and the target is to win the trophy to make the supporters happy

“Expectation is always highest from the supporters. We have a good squad and our target is to win the trophy to make the supporters happy”

He also said that there is not specific team who can be taken as favorites of winning the tournament

“All the teams have equal chances of winning”

Urbanyi also said that it might be an advantage that there is eleven players from New Radiant in the final squad for SAFF championship

“It can be an advantage. They played strong matches in AFC cup and they have reached quarter final of the AFC cup. These players have a busy season which they usually don't have before”

Urbanyi added that he has a good knowledge of the competition and countries. Except Urbanyi, this is the first SAFF championship for all other coaches. This is the third SAFF championship of Urbanyi

“Definitely I have a good knowledge of the competition and other countries. But the most important thing is I have a good confidence with my players”

When asked about the fitness of Easa and Rilwan he said that he want them to be fit for the first game

Urbanyi stated that this is going to be the most competitive SAFF championship so far

“I would say this is the most competitive SAFF competition. But the real answer will come after the tournament”

In the pre-match press conference Akram said that they are very well prepared and want to take the trophy back to Maldives

“we are very well motivated and we want to take the trophy back to Maldives”
