Nepal 2-0 Bangladesh: Nepal wins opener

Kathmandu, NEPAL – Host Nepal hit 2 goals with no reply from Bangladesh to bright their start of SAFF Championship 2013 opening.

With full house support from red crowd, Nepal team displayed a dominating game and put all pressure on visitors where Anil Gurung, Bharat Khawas goals in the first half was enough to assure all the 3 points from the game.

Eighteenth minute of the game Anil Gurung brought Nepal to front with his tricky header when goalkeeper came out to punch the high cross from right flank.

Bharat doubled the lead for the home side after finishing a flipped ball from a corner kick. Bharat who was just in in front of the goal did no mistake to score from close range.

Bangladesh was not in their best form and for their aggressive fouls, cards were flying from Jordan’s match official.

Anil Gurung could have extended the lead for Nepal in the 67th minute. When only keeper to beat Anil tried to chip the ball over keeper, but keeper well punched the ball to clear the danger.

Seven minutes later Bangladesh goalkeeper Mamun was forced to make another save on Raju’s long-range effort. Keeper dived and superbly save the ball.

In the dying minutes of the game Raju missed a golden chance add one more to Nepal. But unmarked Raju’s free shot from inside the penalty area was well saved by Mamun.

In the next game of the competition Pakistan will face India tomorrow at 17:45 (Local time, Maldives).

Nepal won because Bangladesh couldn't patch their defensive loop holes, I personally did not see any magic from Nepalese side, instead, they just played an okay game!
