Kathmandu, NEPAL - Maldives captain Ali Ashfaq has said that they are not underestimating the Bhutanese team when facing against them today in the group stage of SAFF Championship.
Ashfaq said that even though they scored 10 goals against Sri Lanka they didn’t expect to score more goals and underestimate the opponent.
“We scored 10 goals against Sri Lanka but we are not hoping to score more goals against Bhutan and we are not underestimating them.”
He also sends a message to the supporters about their performance against Sri Lanka.
“We played well against Sri Lanka and scored a historic 10 goals against them. And it doesn’t mean that we will or can score more goals against Bhutan. So supports have to understand it. We will try everything possible to win this match and it’s just a normal game.”
“We want the support from you all and we are with you and trying hard to win this match as well as the tournament. So don’t expect that we have to score more goals than Sri Lanka against Bhutan.”
Ashfaq scored an incredible double hat trick against Sri Lanka in their first match of the tournament, taking his total goal tally in the competition history to a record 14 goals.
