A mega project to start says Ilham

Male’, MALDIVES – Football Association of Maldives President Ilham Ahmed said that the executive committee has approved to start a mega project in the Maldives to develop football in the country.

Speaking at a press conference held at FAM house yesterday, Ilham said that the executive committee has approved to start a mega project to build futsal pitches through out the country.

“We are going to start a mega project to build futsal pitches in the country. And we have started the administrative work of the project.”

“I am quite confident that we can start the project within the next two or three months.”

“We are going to build the pitches with a light system and it can be used in the night as well”

He also said that they are in talks with sponsors and they are very positive for this.

“We are in talks with sponsors and they are very positive. We are planning to give maximum rights for the sponsors like if they wish they will be able to name the compound on their name.” Ilham said.

PPM’s Vice-President and Gemanafushi MP, Ilham said that he would make a good change in his term and he has a huge task to do within the next four years.

“My task is to develop football and I am sure that within the next three months you will see the difference.”

“I may not be someone who is active in football and my task is not to coach or doing the technical work here. My task is to develop football in the country and I am ready for the challenge. I am working as a team to develop football with the help of my technical team.”

He also said that within the next 15 or 20 days teams can train at night in the turf pitches and they have already started the lighting project.

“We have started the lighting project with STELCO and I am sure within the next 15 or 20 days clubs can train at night.”
