Boikov has joined Valencia as their head coach

Male’, MALDIVES – Former New Radiant skipper, Boikov Kamenov of Bulgaria has joined Club Valencia as their head coach for the upcoming season.

Boikov who played a vital role in New Radiant’s defense line when they reached AFC Cup semi final in 2005 has started training sessions with Valencia.

Valencia’s manager Mohamed Hanim said that they are happy with the coach and looking forward for a successful season with him.

“We are glad that we managed to bring a coach who knows Maldivian football and the country very well. We have to be professional. Yes he has played for New Radiant and it was history and now he is working with us as a professional coach to win trophies for the club”

Hanim also said that they have brought a Bulgarian striker and he would be a good choice for the club.

“Our coaching panel monitored the player through videos and we have decided to bring him and also Boikov knows the players very well.”

Boikov, who has played for New Radiant in 2004 and 2005 and later joined VB Sports Club (currently known as VB Addu FC) in 2007. But due to injuries he failed to perform well in VB Sports Club.

National team’s former skipper Assad Abdul Ghani, Keeper Faisal and Under 21 national team goal keeper and New Radiant’s reserve keeper Labaan, Victory’s Mohamed Shifan, Akram Abdul Ghanee, Mohamed Rasheed (Hockey), Mukhuthar Naseer, Haidhar Akram and Muan Moosa Manik has joined Valencia for the upcoming season.

It seems that Valencia has got three obsessions this season. First is the obsession with the number thirteen (even to the extent of delaying their practice till the 13th). The second is speaking gold.(they say they have the gold captain,gold manager and the gold striker in their team). The third one is the obsession with the word professional. It seems the manager has now the professional virus, cos he is saying if very often now. Anyway we wish Boikov all the best in his coaching stint in the maldives
