Male’, MALDIVES – Maldives national team midfielder, Ibrahim Fazeel (Oppo) has said that their main aim is to win the AFC Challenge Cup.

In an exclusive interview given to maldivesoccer.com just after the match against Palestine Oppo said that this is the best achievement that Maldives got in football.

“I would say that this is one of the best achievements that the Maldives national team has achieved. We are in the semifinal of the tournament and we will never look back. We want to win the trophy and keep it in the Maldives.”

National team captain Ali Ashfaq said it was a good achievement for the team and their main hope is to win the tournament.

“First I would like to thank almighty Allah for giving us such an achievement and we will be working hard to win the tournament.”

“It wasn’t an easy thing to advance for the semifinal of such a tournament and we are pleased for achieving this.”

National team keeper Imran Mohamed also said that it was a tough task to qualify for the semifinal and they are very happy for this.

“It wasn’t an easy thing to advance for the semifinal and thank god for this historic achievement”

“It’s not the end still we need to work hard and we will try our level best to win this tournament.”

Maldives advance to the semifinal of AFC Challenge Cup for the very first time as the runners-up of the group A along with Palestine.

This is the second time Maldives are competing in the tournament. The first was in 2012 where Maldives knocked out from the group stage.

I hope the team and coaching staff watch the Afghan match today and analyse it. Can anybody guess any changes the coach may bring on Tuesday? I think he may have to bring in changes, not because anyone's playing badly, but because of any minor injuries and he may have to substitute players for the last 30 minutes, simply to mainatin the flow and energy of the team?

One thing i noticed is that in this three games Coach made substitutions very late. Eg. in the last match Akram came in on 85th minute. What difference he can make in just 5 minutes added time.
