Male’, MALDIVES – Philippines national team coach Thomas Dooley has said that he has never complained about the food and accommodation given to his team.

“I have never complained about the accommodation and I didn’t complain about anything. I just said about the preparation for a game and it’s unusual that you have to take a 30 minute boat ride and players will not get used to ocean and it can be sick. We have like six players not well during the first game and it make very tough to play a game 45 minutes later.” Dooley said in the press conference after the match against Turkmenistan yesterday.

He also said that everybody wants to see a beautiful game in such an important tournament and it will be difficult to perform if you have gone through such things.

“That’s why I was thinking about its kind of venture that in such an important tournament I think it’s not the best preparation to play a game. So everybody wants to see a beautiful game and if you have gone

through something like that you can't play a great game.”

The American born Thomas Dooley has also commented about the beauty of the Maldives.

“Maldives is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been and people are very nice, the beaches, islands and everything is very beautiful. So I’ve never said anything bad about that. It’s just about the preparation for a professional game.”

Philippines will play against the host, Maldives on Tuesday in the semifinal of the tournament.

No wonder Dooley will try now to atone for his more than unflattering remarks. But the question is: did he not know when he came here Maldives is archipelago and islands are scattered over the vast Indian ocean or does he think every country in the world is dry land all the way, no ocean between cities. Does he go to Hawaii is by road?

He thought he was Mourinho, that he can put the media spotlight on him and play mind games to his hearts content. That a small country like us will be subservient to his wishes and demands as he is from USA, the great America. Now that he sees the folly of what he grumbled, is trying to make amends.

The funny thing is, Philippines is very similar to Maldives in that it is made up of thousands of different islands. But then, most of the players on their team are not Filipinos...Just a Mourinho wannabe
