Male’, MALDIVES – Ilham Ahmed, presidential candidate of Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has said that Ali Azim has failed in the election of FAM and that’s the reason for postponing the election. Speaking to the press near FAM House, Ilham said that he is ready for an election and he will win the election even if they held it today.

“Ali Azim doesn’t have the courage to compete in an election and that’s the reason why he postponed the election for the second time. Even if they held the election today, I am sure that I will win the election.” Ilham said.

“He is the president and he has all the facilities and power to hold the election but he doesn’t have the guts to do so."

Meanwhile, VB Addu FC’s board member, Shaveed said that Ali Azim agreed to the terms and conditions of FIFA and AFC delegates last night in front of them.

“Ali Azim agreed to the terms and conditions of FIFA and AFC last night and I don’t know what was the reason for postponing the election.”

“FIFA observer asked me to thank Ali Azim for allowing him to meet with FIFA and AFC members inside FAM and I just said to Azim, Thank you very much and he appreciated it.”

In today’s press conference Azim said that the members who disrupted the elections would be forwarded to the disciplinary committee.

“The members who disrupted the elections will be forwarded to the disciplinary committee. But we have to note that the disciplinary actions that was taken in the first time, were mainly towards the members who entered the elections hall without permission and we hope that there will be the same consistency this time”

But in the press release on 30th July regarding the suspension of those who disrupt the congress on 18th July, states that some of the club members who violated the congress regulation and created disturbances is to be given advice and if a similar incident is to be repeated, action to be taken against such a club or an official.

It also states that FAM will not tolerate any misbehavior in the congress and will abide with the advice given by FIFA and AFC to take stringent actions against those.

Azim may have failed, but Ilham is neither fit nor proper to run the FAM in the first place.
