Male’, MALDIVES – Maziya Sports and Recreation Club seal their first win in AFC Cup 2015 after beating Singapore’s Warriors FC by 2-0 today at the National Football Stadium.

In the 13th minute Velez supplied a dangerous ball into the box and Hafsyar made a good shot but it was blocked and Samdhooh cleared the ball.

Four minutes before the break Velez made another good shot but keeper Imran punched out the ball.

In the 42nd minute Pablo’s powerless shot inside the box from the cross-taken by Nashid went straight to the keeper.

Four minutes later Asadhulla Abdulla broke the deadlock from a wonderful shot inside the box.

In the 63rd minute Maziya was forced to introduce Moosa Yamin due to an injury to Toshiya.

In the 72nd minute Warrior’s keeper cleared Pablo’s header inside the box from a corner kick for a corner kick.

In the 87th minute Pablo doubled the lead from a wonderful header inside the box from a cross-taken by Niyaz from the right flank.

Maziya’s coach Ali Suzain said after the game that it was a good game and it proves that Maziya is better than Warriors FC.

“It was a good game and I think almost all the players and supporters will forget about our first game against Bengaluru FC.”

“Maziya is better than Warriors through out the game and it proves from the result. This will be a good result for us when playing against Jayapura. I am sure if we prepare well for that game we can get a good result.”

Suzain also said that with this result the confidence of the team will improve and it will be a good thing when facing against Jayapura.

“With this result we are quite confident that we can confirm a place in the second round of the tournament. We can get a good result against Warriors in Singapore and also I am sure we can get a good result against Bengaluru FC in Male.”

On the other hand Warriors FC coach Weaver said that it was a disappointing result for them.

“We are disappointed to lose the game. We had young and inexperienced players and they tried very hard to win it.”

“We couldn’t keep the ball enough in the Maziya’s half and it was difficult for us to dominate due to the fatigue and that was the problem.”

“For the first goal I can say it was poor defending and for the second one we didn’t supply the ball into the box from the free kick and they scored from a counter attack.”

Persipura Jayapura won the match against Bengaluru FC by 3-1 today in this group. Persipura leading the group with 6 points from two games while Maziya managed to secure second place with goal difference. Maziya and Bengaluru FC got 3 points from two games.

congratations to Maziya, it was a good game and the players were playing with much confidence today. Ball controlling and passing was good too. Could have tried bit more shots. Both flanks were used for attacks(unlike some games where bokuree has to do all the crosses) plus midfield play was improved. In the second half maziya almost completely dominated the game. Felt that number of attacking opportunities created and Converted to goals should have been more. Good to see a strong bench and the players coming off it is almost the same quality as the players being substituted. Hope new radiant wins tomorrow's game and hope and pray that both the local teams go through to the second round.
