Male’, MALDIVES – Victory Sports Club’s head Coach Ali Suzain says that his side has improved in tonight's game as they concluded the second round of Dhiraagu Dhivehi League with a superb scoreline of 8-2 against Club Valencia who has to play relegation matches.

“Victory’s performance is good as per the situation. We are improving.”

Suzian also delightfully noted the return of Victory’s striker Ali Fasir (Sentey) who scored a goal today.

“Senety’s return is great for us and tonight he scored a goal. So it's a huge boost for us”.

Today’s game is Senteys first game at Victory. He joined reds at the end of last season but he was ruled out due to an injury he sustained during national team practices.

With today’s win, Victory concluded as the third team with 25 points from 14 games.

Speaking at the post match press conference, Club Valencia’s Assistant Coach, Ahemd Nashid (Naadhu) said that his side took the game easily as they have to play relegation matches.

“Since we already know that we have to play relegation matches, our boys took the game too easily”.

“I also wanted to give chance to new players since this is not an important game”.

Valencia ended the second round at the bottom of the table with eight points from 14 games. They will play Dhivehi League Qualification matches. Second division teams, BG Sports, United Victory and either All Youth Linkage (AYL) or Vynasa play the qualification round with Valencia.

“We hope we can come back again, we hope we will be better in the relegation”.

For Ahmed Nashid (Naadhu) this may not be an important game but for the future of Maldives football and Valencia each game is important. No supporter would want Valencia demoted to second division though from the callous comments by assistant coach and wayward management of Valencia they are doing exactly what they should not be doing. They are aiding and abetting to the demotion of Valencia to the second division.

Having half the national squad, that is all he could say. 8 goals against a relegated Valencia side and he is happy. What a coach we have got. Eva, anyone else?

Do you guys really think playing relegation, as it is now, is fair?? Look at the 2nd Division final match some 8-0 score i think. That is not the kind of score we should be seeing in finals. I believe it happened largely because there is no value of holding the 2nd division title. If we promote the 2nd division title winner to 1st division directly (i mean without this qualification) then it adds value to that title. And those clubs will take the final more seriously. Because, actually, clubs play 2nd division to get the promotion to 1st, they are not that much focused on wining that 2nd division title, which has no value.::: And on the other side in 1st division teams at the bottom are playing childish football. They ,by now, know that by winning more matches will achieve them nothing. So the management is also using these matches as "practice" matches, giving playing time to bench warmers. They are now getting ready to play the qualification/relegation. ::: As i said earlier both 1st and 2nd division matches will be more competitive if we give direct promotion to the winner of 2nd division final and demote the bottom team of the Dhivehi league to 2nd division. In this way both the 2nd division final and the matches of the bottom teams of DDL will be more competitive as they now will try to avoid the bottom of the table. ::: One more thing i want to note is that (as discussed in ESPN about the relegation play offs/ qualification) the teams from 1st division gets unfair advantage. For example they have got more financial support from the FA coz they were in 1st division, and that means more room to buy quality players. And another thing is that they got more stronger/competitive matches by means of playing in 1st division. And here in Maldives (if i am not wrong) the qualification will be played in the same year which means the 1st division clubs can use their current squad, which will be much stronger as it was built to compete in the 1st division(though they have failed):: what are your thoughts about this!!!!!!!!!

i have been a valencia supporter since my childhood. but i now want valencia to be relegated. Its better for them than just being in 1st division for the sake of it.

@Ahan: I raised pretty much the same point a while ago, it's good to know that someone shares my point of view. I think the current relegation playoff is used in case one of the big names get into the bottom 2 of the 1st division (happened to NRSC in 2001, but they played the likes of STELCO in the relegation playoff and made their way out of trouble), so they can get an easy passage into next season's 1st division. It pains me to say this, but Valencia deserves to get relegated based on their performance this season. In previous seasons, we saw AYL perform poorly, while Thoddoo FC were getting thrashed on a weekly basis. Yet they managed to stay up after playing a relegation playoff against the top 2 sides of the 2nd division, both of which consisted of jaded players and depleted squads. The bottom team should be relegated automatically. Perhaps, if a big club like Valencia indeed gets relegated, it will give a wake up call to FAM and the management of other 1st division clubs. Valencia are seeing the sour results of several years worth of severe mis-management and their management does not seem to care about the club they are supposed to run anymore. It will be harsh on the fans, but looking at the long-term plight of our football, Club Valencia has to go down.
