Ashfaq receives the awards

Male’, MALDIVES – Ali Ashfaq, who won the best player award and Golden Boot award at Haveeru Sports Awards, was handed the awards tonight.

Haveeru Daily’s Chairman Mohamed Zahir Hussain handed over the trophies to Ashfaq tonight in a special reception at Sea House Brasserie. Ashfaq was unable to attend Haveeru Awards function held on 15th February due to his commitment to his current club PDRM FA of Malaysia.

Ali Ashfaq also won the Golden Boot award after scoring an incredible 58 goals during the last season for the club and the country. Haveeru also awarded a special plaque for Ashfaq as he was named as the second highest top scorer in the world during the year 2013.

Congra Dhagey. No disrespect to Dhagey but to my knowledge on behalf of Dhagey his mom received the awards at Haveeru Sports Awards Night. This means that Haverru took back the awards from Dhageys mom and handed it over to Dhagey in a separate ceremony.This is the first time I have heard any where in the world once an award is given and due to the players unavailability somebody else receives the award and later this particular award is handed over to him.Anyway this is Maldives and anything is possible. Congra once again Dhagey.
