Male', MALDIVES - AFC cup quarter finalist New Radiant had urged respective authorities to work on to postpone the upcoming SAFF Championship to December.
New Radiant requested to delay the SAFF Championship in three separate letters sent to FAM, Minister of Human Resource, Youth and Sports Mr Mohamed Hussain Shareef and Former FAM president and AFC Exco member Mr Ali Azim.
It was stated in the letter that, the club needs time to prepare for the quarter final clash against defending champions Kuwait SC. And also in SAFF championship and in AFC cup, players represent the country and the club wants to achieve good results in both tournaments.
“New Radiant is representing in the AFC Cup after an absence of 8 years and the club is right now among the best 8 teams of the competition, which started with 34 clubs from 17 countries”

Just like the national team needs time for preparing for the SAFF championship, the club also needs time to prepare for the AFC Cup''
SAFF Championship is scheduled to held from 1-11 September while first leg of AFC Cup quarter finals will be played on 17th September.
