Blues continue winning streak

Male', MALDIVES - New Radiant thrashed Club Eagles by 5-0 to continue their winning streak in Dhiraagu Dhivehi league this season.

New Radiant extended their winning run in the league to 11 games with a hat trick of ace Striker Ali Ashfaq and goals from vetran Ali Umar and Guinean defender Sylla Mansa.

Ashfaq opened the scoring in the 39th minute with a well placed free kick from outside the penalty area.But before the goal Ahmed Niyaz had a strong shot denied by the post.

New Radiant doubled their lead in the 51st minute when Ashfaq converted from the spot. New Radiant were awarded a penalty kick when Moosa Yamin was fouled inside the box by Eagles defender Mohamed Amjad.

Ashfaq bagged his 28th goal of the season in the 60th minute lashing on to a excellent through ball from Ali Fasir , with a trade mark left footed finish.

But the best goal of the game came from Ali Umar in the 67th minute. Ali Umar picked a through ball from Rilwan and found the back of the net with a half volley from inside the box.

New Radiant made it 5-0 when Mansa got to the end of Ali Umar's corner in the 77th minute.

Defending champions New Radiant top the table with 33 points with a 100 %record in the league so far. With the win today, New Radiant extended their lead to 15 points. However Maziya can cut the deficit to 12 points once again if they win against VB Addu FC in tonight match in the league.
