Male’, MALDIVES – Victory Sports Club has decided not to play in the upcoming B52 FA Cup quarter final match against New Radiant tomorrow.

In a letter sent to Football Association of Maldives (FAM) today Victory has highlighted that due to the financial situation of the club the board members of the club has decided not to play in the quarter final match.

Speaking to maldivesoccer.com today, Victory Sports Club’s assistant manager Ibrahim Hisaan said that the board members had highlighted some points and they made the decision based on those points.

“The club didn’t get the funds from the Football Association and even from the ministry and they don’t have enough funds to give the salary and all. So, the board members have decided not to participate in FA Cup and they are working hard to fix the salary issues.”

“We are quite confident that we can settle those outstanding payments very soon and could be able to work for the upcoming season.” Hisaan said.

One of a senior players of Victory said to maldivesoccer.com today that none of the players will work with Victory with the current management.

“There is not a single player who will play for the team with the current management. They don’t answer the phones when the players call them.”

“We have not been paid for three months but still we did our best to secure the place in the Dhivehi League next year.” He said.

A reliable source close to Victory has confirmed to maldivesoccer that Victory took a loan of nearly MVR 400k last year and the club has to repay the loan.

According to competition rule, if a team refuses to play they will be fined for a sum of MVR25,000. Victory's refusal to play the game also means New Radiant will advance to the semi final with a 2-0 win.

What a shame'! Surely a big sign, that our football is going down! Sad tho say this, but where are our strong Red devils ' Victory ' once the biggest club in Maldives, now a club, which runs by a bunch of i....s! Nash and Zariyandh are one of the main reasons fo this thing happening! Making empty promise after the other one and still lying to the players! Another big reason is Suzain! Which worked really hard to put Victory in this position, to show our nation, that this club is not able to perform without him. Eventhough he came with his people and cried after the relegation match with victory, he is a main reason for this reason. We need to change rules in Maldivian football! How is it possible, that other clubs are getting funds from the Assocation and from the Ministry, but Victory does not? Where are the ' supporters ' of Victory?! It's not enough to have only the Victory sticker on the back of your cycle!
