Blues appoint vice chairman

Male', MALDIVES - New Radiant Sports Club has amended their regulation and increase number of executive board members to nine and elected Hassan Shujau and Mohamed Shafeeq at club’s mid-term congress held at FAM House last night.

The club executive committee then voted to appoint Hassan Shujau as club’s vice chairman.

During the congress, chairman Balak said both Mohamed Shafeeq and Hassan Shujau are close allies of the club management.

“They are both close to New Radiant and they are always assisting us. In order to move forward with our aims we need to strengthen our team and I am sure this will be a huge boost to that” Balak said.

Balak also announced that the club will not allocate the number 12 jersey to any player from next season in honour to their supporter for their priceless support to the club as the 12th man.

During the congress Balak also rubbishes the speculation that he will step down from the post at the end of the current term by stating he is honoured to be the chairman of New Radiant.

“There are speculations that I will step down at the end of this term. But let me clear this, there is only one post in Maldives more honourable than being the chairman of New Radiant and that is the President of Maldives. I am in love with this work; I enjoy working with the players, management, coaching staff and the supporters. That gives me more experience and joy every day” Balak said.

Deputy Minister of Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Saleem, who was present as an observer, praised the work of New Radiant management by stating this is one of the very few clubs in the Maldives that submit necessary documents and financial details to the ministry on time and without any errors. He also welcomed and praised the club decision to carry national flag on match jersey when playing in international tournaments.
