New Radiant 2-1 BG Sports: Blues edge past BG

Male', MALDIVES - Ten man New Radiant edged past BG sports 2-1 in today's match in the Dhiraagu Dhivehi League to strengthen their bid to end this season league with a 100 percent record.

Champions New Radiant took the lead in the 16th minute as Umair converted from the penalty spot.

New Radiant were awarded a penalty when ashfaq was fouled in the box by BG's defender Zaad.

New Radiant were given a scare in the 31st minute as goalkeeper Imran made a vital save in a goul mouth scramble.

Even though both teams found it difficult to play in the heavy rain, New Radiant doubled their lead in the 43rd minute as umair drilled a strong shot past BG's goalkeeper Ifrah.

Early in the second half Ifrah punch away Shifan's long range shot.

In the 61st minuted Rilwan delivered an excellent cross to Ashfaq but his header went inches wide.

In the 62 min BG's Adham's shot from edge of the penalty area was easily held by Imran.

BG got a new hope when Ashan found the back of the net from a free kick in the 69th minute. From out of the box Ashfan place the ball in the bottom far corner.

New Radiant were reduced to 10 men when defender Shifan was shown a straight red card for protesting referee decision.

But New Radiant held on to gain their 16th consecutive win in the league this season.

Champions New Radiant are now on 48 points. BG are fourth with 20 points.
