SAFF C'ship: Sri Lanka 5 – 2 Bhutan

Kathmandu, NEPAL – Sri Lanka beats Bhutan 5 - 2 in their farewell game in the SAFF Championship 2013. Sri Lanka and Bhutan were both eliminated from the group stage when they came out to today’s game, as they lost first 2 games of the competition to Maldives and Afghanistan.

After a dominant paly by Sri Lanka, Mohamed Izzadeen broke the deadlock in the 19th minute of the game and brought Sri Lanka to lead.

Seven minutes later Izzaddeen scored his second goal of the game and extended the lead to 2 – 0.

Pema Dorji deflected a clearance to his own net to credit Sri Lanka’s score to 3 – 0.

In the added minutes of the first half, Passang scored a goal for Bhutan and gave hope to Bhutan.

Five minutes in to the second half Izzaddeen completed his hat trick with the assist from Mohamed Rawme.

Eight minutes later Sonam Tenzin hit a volley from Tshering Wangdi’s cross and made the score line to 2 – 4. However Izzaddeen scored right before the final whistle to seal a consolation win for Sri Lanka.

In the extra minutes of the game Izzaddeen scored his 4th goal and fifth od the game to seal the 5 - 2 win for Sri Lanka.

In the semifinal of the tournament Maldives will play against India on 9th September while Nepal will face Afghanistan on 8th September.
