Maziya beats Victory

Male’, MALDIVES – Maziya Sports and Recreation won their first game in the second round of Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League after beating Victory by 3-1. Asadhulla and Nashid scored the two goals to come from behind when Thashmeen scored the opener for the Reds.

In the 10th minute Omodu created a good goal scoring opportunity but his header inside the box went straight to the gloves of the keeper.

Three minutes later Shathir’s shot inside the box went inches away from the post.

In the 22nd minute Maziya created their first chance. Keeper Tholal was forced to stop the header from Moosa Yamin.

Maziya’s Asadhulla penetrated the defense line of Victory in the 38th minute and passed it to unmarked Pablo, but keeper Tholal made another stunning save to stop the shot from him.

In the 42nd minute Tholal made another good save to stop the header from Nashid inside the box.

In the additional time of the first half Victory’s Ahmed Niyaz hits the woodworks from a wonderful shot inside the box.

In the 50th minute Thashmeen broke the deadlock from a wonderful free kick on the edge of Maziya’s penalty area.

A minute later, Ahmed Nashid levels the game from a stunning shot inside the box.

In the 58th minute, keeper Tholal brought down Nashid inside the box and referee awarded a penalty to Maziya. Asadhulla Abdulla took the lead for Maziya from the penalty spot.

In the 66th minute keeper Tholal made another good save to block the shot from Nashid inside the box.

In the 85th minute, Asadhulla scored and changed the score to 3-1 after beating the keeper. Pablo beats two defenders and passed it to Asadhulla who was unmarked inside the box.

Club Eagles will play against BG Sports tonight at 2100 hours.
