Maziya 1-1 AYL: AYL grab vital point

Male', MALDIVES - All Youth Linkage (AYL) grabbed a precious point to guarantee their survival after last night match against Maziya Sports and recreation in Dhiraagu Dhivehi league which ended 1-1 draw.

Fourth placed AYL has now gained 15 points to ensure their survival from relegation. Seventh place Victory are on 11 points, and even they win their last game they will move to 14 points. Bottom placed VB Addu FC are on 9 points, if they win their remaining 2 games they can move 15 points. However AYL has a much superior goal difference over VB.

Maziya took the lead in the 20th minute when nashid scored. Nashid beat a defender in the box, and placed a low shot in the bottom corner of the net.

Two minutes later AYL’s Githurees missed good chance in the box. His shot in the box rattled the cross bar.

AYL equalized when Sierra Leone striker Abu scored from the spot in the 35th minute. AYL was awarded a penalty when Arif was guilty for a hand ball in the box.

In the 68th minute Asadhulla's shot inside the box hits the post, AYL defender cleared the rebounced ball.

Maziya got a glorious chance to take the lead in the 78th minute as they were awarded a penalty for Adil’s foul on Nashid. But Assadulla’s penalty hit the cross bar.

After the game Maziya’s coach Mahefooz said he was happy with a point.

“This was a difficult game. We got chances but chances were hard to create because of the defensive approach AYL was applying. We got many chances. But in the position we are in right now we can settle for a draw. But we want to guarantee our (2nd) position as soon as possible,” Mahefooz said.

AYL’S coach Nashid was pleased with his teams performance.

“we knew maziya is a very strong team compared to ayl. We kept that in mind.We got exactly what we wanted from this game. Since the start of the second round my players has pefromed very well. Even today they did all what I asked from them. They worked hard for this point.,” Nashid said.
